Umm Bill O'Reilly is mixing and confusing statistics. Okay you say 15% of people are in poverty and 9% are substance abusers. But those are 2 populations. Not every person who is in poverty is a substance abuser. And not every person who is a substance abuser is poor.

What do you expect. West and Smiley are challenged daily up close and personal by some of the sharpest young minds in the country, while Bill O is surrounded by paid yes men on the Fox crew, whose job it is to get his lighting right. Is it any wonder he can't get facts straight? That sort of thing takes years of practice.

That last statement just proves O'Reilly has no idea how job distribution works. If EVERYONE had a college degree, then the unemployment rate would EQUAL that of the national unemployment rate BUT it would also add to our national debt because all of those people who couldn't afford to go to college would just be taking out FEDERAL loans. Not to mention, every company's success is not only due to management, it's more so built on the backs of those people who can't afford to go to college and therefore, do the lowly jobs that management will not do. How does this not compute?

This sounds like some rightist rationalization as if the cause of poverty is poor parenting. There are lots of people in third world countries who have benefited from great parenting but poor, nevertheless, because of corrupt leaders who hoard the nation's wealth. Do you really believe everyone who was in the French Revolution was poorly parented? Hahahahaha!
